Candidates for Clarion Borough Council

Helen Hampikian
If elected for Borough Council, my leadership will focus on ensuring the council is transparent, accessible, and most importantly working for all residents – together I believe we can build a better Borough! I am running for many reasons, but mainly to amplify community voices and bring a fresh, logical perspective to local decision-making. After 13 years living and working in Clarion Borough, I’ve seen our community grow and overcome challenges which we’ve successfully done by showing up for each other and staying connected. We need thoughtful, forward-looking leadership that prioritizes the issues that matter most, for example fixing outdated zoning laws to make sure housing is safe. We also need to strengthen the ways residents can engage with and influence local decisions because a connected community is a stronger community. I believe Clarion can be a place where everyone feels heard, supported, and proud to live and I’m ready to help us get there.
My name is Andrew Harbaugh, and I am running for a seat on the Clarion Borough Council. I am excited to introduce myself to people in the community and earn their trust. I pledge to be a strong presence in the community and someone you can count on. I take a lot of my motivation for making the Borough better from the belief that we all do not have to think, pray, or love the same way because we are neighbors at the end of the day. That alone gives us the ultimate connection and is enough to build off of as we work together to achieve meaningful achievements as a community.

I love Clarion! I so enjoyed living in Clarion during my time at the University, and I feel so fortunate that life led me back to the town. My family and my business thrive in our community and I look forward to being able to contribute to Clarion as a member of the Borough Council.
