BILLOTTE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY
Clarion resident Joe Billotte has announced that he is a candidate for State Representative for the 63rd Pennsylvania House District.
Following a successful write-in campaign in the April 26 primary election, Billotte will be running against incumbent Donna Oberlander (R) in November.
“Since the early 1990s, I have worked hard on key issues and events in Clarion, Knox, New Bethlehem, and other area communities,” he said. “I have always sought to create positive changes for the people who live and work here in the 63rd District. I want to bring your local, commonsense ideas to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.”
Billotte works in sales and management, and is currently employed with API Autobody Products Inc. in Clarion. He earned his B.A. at Clarion University in 1989. Billotte currently serves as a judge of elections for Clarion Township’s Precinct 6.1.
Over the past decade, Billotte has served on boards for the Clarion Area Chamber of Business and Industry, the Clarion Conservancy, the March of Dimes and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
He has helped organize annual events including Knox Horse Thief Days, Strattanville Homecoming, New Bethlehem Peanut Butter Festival and the East Brady Area Riverfest.
Billotte has also worked with the Clarion-Limestone School District Parents Advisory Board and the Clarion-Limestone Scholastic Foundation. He serves on the Jefferson County-DuBois Area Vocational-Technical School (JEFF TECH) Advisory Board in Reynoldsville.
“Rep. Oberlander has been in office for seven years,” Billotte noted. “Due to the peculiar layout of this district and cost of campaigning, she has run unopposed in several elections. This is one more reason I feel strongly that I must step forward and offer the voters of Armstrong, Clarion, and Forest Counties a choice.”
“I am eager to fight for you in Harrisburg,” he continued. “No one citizen should feel that they have less of a voice than another. Our region has faced many hardships ranging from unemployment to underfunded schools. I am committed to working with local leadership to confront and solve these issues. There has to be a better way forward.”
