FOOD DRIVE - LET'S SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY WITH HEARTY MEALS IN A BAG

In light of the current SNAP funding battle and the rising costs causing more families to struggle as we enter the holiday season, the executive committee of the Clarion County Democrats voted to begin a new community initiative - a Meal-in-a-Bag Food Drive to collect items for filling, hearty meals that are shelf-stable and easy to prepare.

Each month, we will be choosing two completely shelf-stable meals to assemble and distribute to Blessings Boxes throughout Clarion County. Our November recipes are Minestrone Soup and Chicken Dinner in a Bag. Our goal is to distribute at least 100 meals before Thanksgiving.

Please help us reach this goal by dropping food items off at Sparrow Books in Clarion or contributing financially.

Checks can be mailed to Democratic Party of Clarion County, PO Box 809, Clarion, PA 16214 with “food drive” in the memo.

Every donation, whether a single box of pasta or ingredients for an entire meal, gets us closer to the goal of 100 meals.

November Meal-in-a-Bag Shopping List

Minestrone Soup

Small pasta (such as elbow noodles)

Pasta sauce (24 ounces preferred)

Kidney Beans

Carrots

Green beans

Diced tomatoes

Bouillon cubes (vegetable preferred)

Chicken Dinner in a Bag

Canned chicken (2 per dinner)

Stuffing Mix

Green beans

Turkey gravy (2 per dinner)

Instant mashed potatoes (the "add water" type, 2 per dinner)

Ingredients for both of these meals can be purchased at Walmart or Aldi for approximately $16!

Additional Requests: Boxed mac and cheese

Can openers

Pads & tampons
